This daily newsletter provides an overview of the natural disasters that happened in the last 24 hours and response measures for ongoing disasters. GDACS currently covers earthquakes, tsunamis, tropical cyclones, volcanic eruptions and floods. The color coding (red, orange, green) is related to the estimated humanitarian impact of the event.

It is issued by the Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean. It covers the period from 18 to 19 October. I. HIGHLIGHTS ? El Salvador: The declaration of a State of Public Calamity and Disaster was extended for 60 more days. ? Guatemala: Eleven rivers are above the alert levels. ? Honduras: The state of emergency has been broadened to 10 more departments. The southern zone remains the most affected. ? Nicaragua: Lake Managua remains dangerously close to overflowing. ? Mexico: Tabasco?s Director of Civil Protection reports that around 200,000 people are affected in 17 municipalities. |

As the olive harvest officially begins, settler violence continues, with six Palestinians injured and around 900 olive trees damaged this week. |
