Segun las comunidades y las organizaciones indigenas, los combates se estan dando en medio de la poblacion civil, especialmente en cercania de los centros educativos y los Sitios de Asamblea Permanente, lugares que las autoridades y la Guardia Indigena han identificado como zonas humanitarias y de refugio. Hechos de violencia causan desplazamientos en Cordoba, Cauca, Valle del Cauca y Narino: De los eventos masivos de desplazamiento reportados durante el periodo en revision, cuatro se originaron por acciones belicas. La situacion es critica en el departamento de Cauca, por causa de los continuos enfrentamientos y hostigamientos contra la Fuerza Publica en medio de la poblacion civil. Movilizaciones masivas en el sur de Cordoba, Bajo Cauca y Choco. La fumigacion de cultivos de uso ilicito y la restriccion a las labores de mineria artesanal genero la movilizacion masiva de personas en la region que conecta el sur del departamento de Cordoba con el Bajo Cauca. Comienza la segunda temporada de lluvias en las regiones Andina, Caribe y Pacifica: Segun cifras del Sistema Nacional de Prevencion y Atencion de Desastres (SNPAD), entre el 1 de julio y el 10 de octubre se han visto afectadas cerca de 159.000 personas como consecuencia del inicio de la segunda temporada invernal.

Humanitarian Bulletin No. 24 - 25, 19 September ? 16 October 2011 Fri, 21 Oct 2011 00:24:36 +0000 Source:  UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs Country:  Colombia KEY HIGHLIGHTS: Hostilities and attacks continue to affect civilians in Cauca department: Since 15 September there have been a series of attacks in the municipalities of Corinto, Silvia, Suarez, Jambalo, Paez, Balboa, Argelia, Caldono and Caloto. According to the communities and the indigenous organizations, civilians are frequently caught in the middle of hostilities and often take place nearby schools and ?Permanent Assembly Sites?, considered by indigenous authorities as humanitarian and shelter areas. Acts of violence triggered displacements in Cordoba, Cauca, Valle del Cauca and Narino: Four of the mass displacement events reported during the period under review were caused by military operations. The situation is critical in Cauca Department, due to ongoing fighting and frequent attacks against State armed forces amid civilians. Mass demonstrations in Southern Cordoba, Bajo Cauca and Choco departments: Aerial spraying of coca crops and restrictions imposed on small-scale mining led to the mobilization of thousands in the region between Southern Cordob Departmenta and Bajo Cauca region (antioquiq Department). Second rainy season began in the Andean, Caribbean and Pacific regions: According to figures from the National System for Disaster Prevention and Response (SNPAD) between 1 July and 10 October nearly floods, landslides and strong winds, following the start of the second winter season, have affected 159,000.

HIGHLIGHTS/KEY PRIORITIES ? The ongoing joint UN-Government Detailed Needs Assessment is expected to be completed shortly. ? 22 % of the assessed funding requirements have been received so far (79 million of 357 million US$ requested in the Rapid Response Plan launched on 18 September 2011). In the absence of additional funding, it is estimated that most stocks will be depleted by the end of October. ? So far, approximately 1 million persons were provided with food, while 500?000 persons received essential medicines. The provision of emergency shelter and water has reached 25% of the targeted population. ? Needs are increasing with the onset of winter, the outbreak of water and vector borne diseases, as well as the upcoming Rabi planting season.

Sudan Weekly Humanitarian Bulletin 7-13 October 2011 Thu, 20 Oct 2011 14:51:21 +0000 Source:  UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs Country:  Sudan (the), Ethiopia, South Sudan (Republic of) Key Points ? Fighting between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Sudan People?s Liberation Movement ? North (SPLM-N) forces continues to affect civilians in Blue Nile and South Kordofan states. ? UNHCR reports that an estimated 28,500 Sudanese refugees from Blue Nile State have entered Ethiopia. ? Sudan?s Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC) reports that some 35,000 people remain displaced in various locations of South Kordofan State. This does not include SPLM-N areas. ? An attack on UNAMID in North Darfur leaves three peacekeepers dead and six more injured. ? The country director of an international NGO, Fellowship for African Relief (FAR) has been expelled from Sudan by the Government. No official reason has been given for the expulsion.
