Global Disaster Alert and Coordination System — Newsletter 08/10/2015

This daily newsletter provides an overview of the natural disasters that happened in the last 24 hours and response measures for ongoing disasters. GDACS currently covers earthquakes, tsunamis, tropical cyclones, volcanic eruptions and floods. The color coding (red, orange, green) is related to the estimated humanitarian impact of the event.

Satellite Mapping Overview as of 05 October 2015The latest overview report of current ongoing satellite mapping activities related to humanitarian disasters is available.

It is intended for disaster managers, operations centres, desk officers and others that need syntheses of what goes on in this field. The service is operated by the GDACS mapping & satellite imagery coordination mechanism: UNITAR Operational Satellite Applications Programme (UNOSAT). We encourage any satellite mapping production entity to submit information about their products so we can include it in future summaries.

Estimated population affected by category 1 (120 km/h) wind speeds or higher is 0.
