Global Disaster Alert and Coordination System — Newsletter 10/03/2013

This daily newsletter provides an overview of the natural disasters that happened in the last 24 hours and response measures for ongoing disasters. GDACS currently covers earthquakes, tsunamis, tropical cyclones, volcanic eruptions and floods. The color coding (red, orange, green) is related to the estimated humanitarian impact of the event.

GDACS uses Twitter for assessing secondary effects of earthquakes

A new experimental product is available under the 'media' tab of each earthquake report. Tweets are analyzed automatically to detect the occurrence of secondary effects like landslides, natech incidents, tsunamis, etc. Read more.
