This daily newsletter provides an overview of the natural disasters that happened in the last 24 hours and response measures for ongoing disasters. GDACS currently covers earthquakes, tsunamis, tropical cyclones, volcanic eruptions and floods. The color coding (red, orange, green) is related to the estimated humanitarian impact of the event.

It was issued by OCHA Eastern Africa. It covers the period from 23 November - 13 December 2011. The next report will be issued if there are major developments in the situation. I. HIGHLIGHTS/KEY PRIORITIES ? More than 80,000 people affected by flooding in western Kenya, Nairobi, Mandera, Isiolo, Wajir Moyale and the Coast. ? Kenya Meteorological Department forecasts heavy rainfall in December; risk of more flooding remains high. ? Emergency Response Fund (ERF) responds to priority needs in shelter and non-food items. |
Democratic Republic of the Congo (the): Situation humanitaire en Republique Democratique du Congo - Note d?information hebdomadaire a la presse, 14 decembre 2011 Wed, 14 Dec 2011 13:02:46 +0000 Source: UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs Country: Democratic Republic of the Congo (the) Situation du cholera ? L?epidemie de cholera persiste dans quatre provinces le long du fleuve Congo (Bandundu, Equateur, Les differents partenaires restent mobilises, en appui au Gouvernement, pour la prise en charge des cas dans les differents centres et unites de traitement de cholera. Des actions de sensibilisation sont menees pour interrompre la chaine de transmission de la maladie. Ainsi, l?ONG Solidarites International, avec l?appui de l?UNICEF, va continuer jusqu?au 15 fevrier 2012, ses activites de sensibilisation dans les zones les plus affectees notamment a Kingabwa, Limete et Maluku dans la Ville de Kinshasa. Pour sa part, l?ONG Medecins d?Afrique (MDA) fait de la sensibilisation, la mobilisation et la prise en charge des cas dans certaines unites de traitement de cholera (UTC) de Kalamu, Kinsenso et Lingwala. L?ONG COOPI continuera jusqu?au 8 janvier 2012 la prise en charge des cas dans le Centre de traitement de cholera de Maluku. L?ONG ALIMA prend en charge des cas dans les UTC dans quelques zones de sante de la Province de Bandundu et de la Ville de Kinshasa. |
