Global Disaster Alert and Coordination System — Newsletter 11/6/2009

This daily newsletter provides an overview of the natural disasters that happened in the last 24 hours and response measures for ongoing disasters. GDACS currently covers earthquakes, tsunamis, tropical cyclones, volcanic eruptions and floods. The color coding (red, orange, green) is related to the estimated humanitarian impact of the event.

5-point-1 magnitude earthquake rattles Samoan islands Posted at 23:48 on 04 November, 2009 UTC A 5-point-1 magnitude earthquake rattled the Samoan islands this morning. The US Geological Survey says the quake?s epicenter was located 189 kilometres south west of Pago Pago at a depth of 10 kilometers. There have been no reports of damages.
