Global Disaster Alert and Coordination System — Newsletter 03/06/2015

This daily newsletter provides an overview of the natural disasters that happened in the last 24 hours and response measures for ongoing disasters. GDACS currently covers earthquakes, tsunamis, tropical cyclones, volcanic eruptions and floods. The color coding (red, orange, green) is related to the estimated humanitarian impact of the event.

Satellite Mapping Overview as of 01 June 2015The latest overview report of current ongoing satellite mapping activities related to humanitarian disasters is available.

It is intended for disaster managers, operations centres, desk officers and others that need syntheses of what goes on in this field. The service is operated by the GDACS mapping & satellite imagery coordination mechanism: UNITAR Operational Satellite Applications Programme (UNOSAT). We encourage any satellite mapping production entity to submit information about their products so we can include it in future summaries.

	Green alert for tropical cyclone BLANCA-15. Population affected by Category 1 (120 km/h) wind speeds or higher is 9000.
	From 01/06/2015 to 03/06/2015, a Hurricane/Typhoon > 74 mph (maximum wind speed of 231 km/h) BLANCA-15 was active in EastPacific. The cyclone affects these countries: Mexico (vulnerability Medium). Estimated population affected by category 1 (120 km/h) wind speeds or higher is 9000.

	Green alert for tropical cyclone ANDRES-15. Population affected by Category 1 (120 km/h) wind speeds or higher is 0.
	From 28/05/2015 to 03/06/2015, a Hurricane/Typhoon > 74 mph (maximum wind speed of 231 km/h) ANDRES-15 was active in EastPacific. The cyclone affects these countries: [unknown] (vulnerability [unknown]). Estimated population affected by category 1 (120 km/h) wind speeds or higher is 0.

	On 05/05/2015, a flood started in USA, lasting until 02/06/2015 (last update). The flood caused 38 killed and 600 displaced .

	On 25/05/2015, a flood started in Romania, lasting until 02/06/2015 (last update). The flood caused 1 killed and 184 displaced .

	Green flood alert in Russia
	On 15/05/2015, a flood started in Russia, lasting until 02/06/2015 (last update). The flood caused 0 killed and 1200 displaced .
